Just a quick update

This update is overdue.  Needless to say, I haven't been sleeping much and I've figured out several different routes to the hospital...just to keep it interesting.   Butch was moved into a regular room yesterday morning and is doing much better.  He is off all of the IV fluids and medications (he still has to take some orally).  He is very anxious to get out of the hospital.  Every time a doctor, nurse, or custodian comes in it is the same question from Butch "Are you here to release me".  Of course the answer is always 'NO'!  But he'll be home soon enough.  It will be Saturday at the earliest and at the latest Tuesday.

Thanks everyone for the prayers, love and support.  It is truly appreciated.  More later.  For now I'm off to the hospital.

2009 Year in Review - Heart attack waiting to happen?

01/01/2009 - Butch and the kids left town to visit his dad and stepmom for the weekend.  I went crazy , colored my hair (oops) and played bingo.  I didn't win.

01/02/2009 - Went to work for a few hours, then went to a friends house for the afternoon, had chinese food for lunch (yum) and played catchphrase (fun).  The coworkers and friend deemed that my hair was NOT green and just rather 'ashey'.  Not much better.

01/03/2009 - Cleaned house in anticipation of the arrival of my much missed family.  Ordered pizza and enjoyed the return of chaos to my home.

01/04/2009 - Celebrated Butch's 37th birthday with Einsteins bagels for breakfast (he loves the honey almond cream cheese), chicken fried steak for dinner and cake & ice cream for desert.  Recolored my hair.  It looks better than it did before.

01/05/2009 - Went to work, it's quarter end and I'm training on billing so I racked up 4 hours of overtime.  Whoo-hoo.  Didn't get to see much of Butch that day, but overall still a good day.

01/06/2009 - Took Olivia to school, went to work.  Worked until 8:24 a.m. when I got a call from my 37 year old husband telling me that he was running on the treadmill when he started having sharp chest pains and shooting pains down his left arm.  Butch then went to the bathroom, threw up twice and called me.  On the advice of myself and my mom that he get medical attention, he drove himself to the hospital where they ran the usual battery of tests.

Yes, my hubby had a heart attack.  It's very surreal typing that.  It's been very surreal saying that all day.  You never expect it to happen to you or your loved ones, and I certainly did not...especially given the fact that he eats relatively well, stays in decent shape, exercises regularly, drinks plenty of water, is still young and smokes...ok, I guess 5 out of 6 isn't bad.

The cardiologist did a heart catheter, discovered that the artery at the back of the heart had a 90% blockage.  They did put in a stent and he is doing better.  His pain level is much less, although he mentioned that he feels like somebody beat the crap out of him.  Oh, and I think morphine is his new best friend.  They are keeping him in the Surgical ICU for another day or two as his blood pressure was still rather high and he'll spend a total of 5-7 days in the hospital.  But he's alive.  Thank you Lord for not taking my husband home yet.

I'll update more tomorrow (Wednesday).  For now, all the adrenaline has run out and so I'm going to go crash.

Now go and hug/kiss that someone special...I know I will...as soon as ICU visiting hours start again, tomorrow.

Happy New Hair!!

Happy New Year!  No you didn't read the title wrong.  I was being facetious.  Butch and the kids took off today to visit with his dad and stepmom for a couple of days and as I have to work on Friday, I stayed behind.  So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to color my hair.  Red is the norm for me, but since the red hair color doesn't last very long (it reverts to a semi strawberry blond), I decided to try something close to my root color...not the grey roots.   Light golden brown.  Sounds pretty doesn't it.  Light and golden.  And brown.

NOT!

Near the scalp, my hair is a medium brown.  Not light.  Not golden.  The ends of my hair (which used to be more blonde, from this summer in the sunshine) are now green.  Yep, you read it right.  Green.  Not a lovely grass green.  Not a deep forest green.  More like puke green.  Or baby diaper...well, you get the picture.  Speaking of picture, no, I will not be posting a pic of this hideous monstrosity on xanga.  I think the xanga population is already taking a hit!  And it's bad enough that I have to go to work tomorrow with blech green hair...in an office...with florescent lighting.  Yeah, that'll be fun.

So, my wizened xanga friends, any advice?  Besides cutting it off.  How soon can I safely use something to undo this mess?  Or cover it up?

Other than today's catastrophe, everything and everyone is great.

Happy New Hair (Year) everybody!
